Description
Soumak kilims are created using a weaving technique known as soumak, and they are named after this technique. They originate from various regions, including the Caucasus, Southern and Western Persia, Turkish Anatolia and are crafted by the Shahsavan tribe and the Kurds in north-western Persia, as well as by the Baloch people along the Persia-Afghanistan border. Unlike regular kilims, has a thicker, tougher texture with a smooth front and a rough back.
